announcement: three-fourths of an ounce January 07 2014

We are pleased to write today about our collaboration with a new company, Three-Fourths of an Ounce.  Lauri London Freedman started the business "in response to a growing awareness that in our culture there is a taboo around death that has deprived us of a living, vibrant language to speak about one of the most important events and rituals in life."  Their beautiful website launched this week.

Our contribution to the site is the soft, oversized Ubuntu blanket made of dark grey baby alpaca with a hand-dipped black corner unique to each blanket.  The blanket symbolizes love, comfort, and a warm embrace during a difficult time.

We encourage you to take a look at the site.  The journal section is especially moving.  And if you'd like to learn more, check out this article from the NY Times Home and Garden section, featuring Ted Muehling's polished (3/4 oz) quartz oval piece.
