LINEN - the sustainable choiceJul, 17
We have long been fans of linen.
It wears beautifully, has a natural luster, regulates temperature well, and is highly durable. But did you know linen is also the best choice for the environment?
Flax plants do not require irrigation like cotton. They are sustained from rainfall in the regions in which they grow (our linen is from Lithuania). Flax is also grown with little to no pesticides and the processing of the crop doesn't require complicated machinery.
Our linen selection is quite vast. Whether you like our classic, casual washed linen, contrasting thread weaves, or striking color gradations, we are happy to offer many options.
INES has been an AREA bestseller for 10 years. Gradient stripes create tone and texture that coordinate with just about anything you mix it with. Available in duvet covers and bagstyle cases.
EMILE is yarn-dyed, chevron weave linen and comes in three colors: charcoal, mineral and moon. Available in duvet covers, frenchback, euro and body pillow cases.
VIVIENNE mineral is a 100% linen ombré pattern with a subtle sateen sheen. There are also a few last pieces in VIVIENNE powder (discontinued). Available in duvet covers and pillow cases.
ELI in milk and cloud is our newest basketweave. Though a linen/cotton blend, we include here it because it resembles antique linen with a softer wrinkle and is a good choice for those who want to transition to linen from cotton. Available in sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases.
CAMILLE, "sister" to EMILE, same weave but with contrasting threads for lush naturalistic colorways: lilac and pink. Available in duvet covers and pillow cases.
ELIAS heavy gauge linen from 2019 (discontinued), a continuation of EDITH. AREA's next heavy linen is currently in development. Stock still available in throws in cement, lime, mineral, natural and powder.
At AREA we have prioritized sustainability since Anki founded the company in 1990. We always aim to lessen our environmental impact, while still producing products that we love.
